Fleas
Fleas are external parasites of warm-blooded mammals and birds that live by hematophagy, which is the practice of feeding off blood. They're small, only about 3 mm for adults, and have mouthparts adapted for piercing the skin. Fleas are flattened sideways to enable deft movement through their host fur or feathers and boasts strong claws to prevent themselves from being dislodged. Also, fleas can jump a distance of over 50 times their body length, however, thankfully can't fly.
Unfortunately, a flea infestation can occur from a pet or even a rodent invasion. Fleas can leave swollen, red welts on the skin after a bite while also spreading diseases. The best approach to fleas is a proactive one where prevention is better than extermination. Call us today to speak with an expert!.
